When Devices May Be Used

Cell phone use at Aspen Valley is a privilege. Students may use electronics before school, during passing periods, at lunch and after school. During class, including Academic Support and Academic Success, electronics may be used only with explicit teacher permission for academic purposes.

Teachers may designate a place for devices at the beginning of a block. Defiance when asked to turn in a device may result in a referral to an administrator for the next level of consequences. Repeated violations in the same class may result in a device being held by administration until a parent or guardian picks it up.

The school cannot guarantee the security of electronic devices or other valuables.

Procedures and Consequences

For each violation, the teacher confiscates the device or directs the student to turn it in to a designated area. The device is returned at the end of the block. Violations accumulate across all classes.

Responsible Online Behavior

Access to a district device is a privilege. Report cyberbullying, harassment, threats, hate speech or inappropriate content to a teacher or administrator. Ask a supervising adult if you are unsure whether an activity is appropriate, and report accidental exposure to inappropriate content immediately.

School and district policies should guide social media use. Do not post pictures, comments or information that could embarrass you or violate district policy.

Review district-provided device information.
